NEC Preparatory School offers several large ensembles for woodwind and brass players:
- Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensemble (MYWE)
- Jr. Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensemble (Jr. MYWE)
- Renaissance & Baroque Wind Band
- Youth Brass Ensemble
These ensembles perform at NEC at least twice each year. The Massachusetts Youth Wind Ensemble is a touring ensemble, with a tour planned for June-July, 2010, to Germany and Austria.
