The NEC Preparatory School offers a rich array of orchestras for students with varying degrees of experience and virtuosity on their instruments. Each spring auditions are held for all of the orchestras, with any remaining openings being filled in September.

The orchestra program includes: Four full orchestras, with winds, brass, percussion, and string players; four large string orchestra; String Chamber Orchestra and Baroque Ensembles at every level. All of these groups are listed below. Click on the links to find out more information about individual groups.

All of the orchestras usually perform at least twice each year at NEC. Youth Philharmonic Orchestra (YPO), and Youth Symphony (YS) are both touring ensembles, with tours scheduled for Summer 2013.
