New England Conservatory piano chair Bruce Brubaker invites the public to join NEC students in exploring the challenges and complexities that pianists face in the world today, through presentations and masterclasses by guest artists and NEC faculty.

Joseph Smith has established himself as a distinctive musical personality. The New York Times has called his playing “eloquent”, and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung found him a “richly sensitive interpreter.” Smith especially enjoys bringing works which have fallen into undeserved neglect to the attention of the public, through performances, broadcasts, recordings, and publications.

His column, "Rare Finds," appeared in Piano Today for fifteen years, and he has edited a number of diverse anthologies published by Schirmer, Dover, and in the new Steinway library of piano music. For two years, "Joseph Smith's Piano Bench" ran as a monthly feature on National Public Radio's Performance Today.
