"Orchid Ensemble evidenced the creative and distinctive appeal of musical and cultural blending..."
—Stearns Newsletter, 2003

Orchid Ensemble features three musicians whose knowledge and faculty with ancient Chinese instruments and styles has fused with contemporary influences that include new music, jazz, and improvisation to create an entirely unique sound. Noted for their energetic and highly adventurous performances, the group is characterized by their boundless incorporation of various forms and techniques from throughout the world and across hundreds of centuries.

The ensemble comprises artistic director Lan Tung (Taiwan/Canada) on erhu/Chinese fiddel, current NEC Contemporary Improvisation student Hui Weng (Taiwan) on zheng/Chinese zither, and Jonathan Bernard (Canada) on percussion.
