Ivani String Quartet Takes Plowman Prize

First Prize winners are all undergraduates.

Ivani String Quartet performs Brahms String Quartet Op. 51, No. 2 in A minor

The Ivani String Quartet has taken First Prize at the Plowman Chamber Music Competition, held last week in Columbia, Missouri. This biennial event is co-presented by the Odyssey Chamber Music Series, the First Baptist Church, the University of Missouri (MU) School of Music and the Missouri Symphony Society. The highest prize awarded is the Grand Prize; the Ivani Quartet took the $2000 First Prize in Piano & Strings, in the memory of James U. Weaver, as well as the $200 Hugo Vianello Audience Prize  and an award from Odyssey Music @ Lenoir Woods.

Consisting entirely of undergraduates, members of the Ivani String Quartet are Sophia Szokolay '19 and Abigail Hong '19, violin; Aria Cheregosha '18, viola; and Annette Jakovcic '19, cello. Paul Katz is their faculty coach.
