David Adewumi Named Soros Fellow

Jazz trumpeter is the child of immigrants from Nigeria.

Jazz trumpeter David Adewumi '16 has been announced as one of the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellows for 2017: "30 outstanding immigrants and children of immigrants from all over the country and world who are pursuing graduate school here in the United States."

Following his undergraduate studies at New England Conservatory, Adewumi, the child of immigrants from Nigeria, is now enrolled in the master's program at Juilliard. The Soros Fellowship acknowledges his "potential to make significant contributions to US society, culture, or [his] academic field." He will receive up to $90,000 in funding over two years.
