NEC# (say it out loud: N-E-C Sharp) is a collaborative musical installation brought to you by New England Conservatory. Not only does NEC# showcase the many musicians who submit videos, but it allows you, the listener, to join in as a conductor. Every time you conduct your virtual orchestra, you create a unique listening experience. Anyone can do it, whether you’re a music expert or not. What will make this project interesting will be the contributions of musicians of all levels from all over the world, not just from NEC. We need you, so please come play with us!

You can become a conductor by choosing your own selection of music and playing it in any order. Your composition will work because every clip of music is recorded using the same tonality starting in E Major and moving into C# Minor. Be sure to create your own video and put your voice into the mix!

  • Pick as few or as many videos as you like
  • Click play in any order you choose
  • Adjust the volume to your liking
  • Sit back and enjoy your masterpiece!
