NEC's Artist Diploma is the highest-level performance program at NEC, and focuses on developing both the artistry and professionalism of gifted young musicians. During their time at NEC, Boston audiences have the opportunity to hear these young artists on the verge of being claimed by the world's stages.
Audiences will remember Hae Ji Chang, Artist Diploma candidate studying with Lorraine Nubar, from her performances in the role of Pamina in NEC's production of The Magic Flute in 2010 (in photo).
This season, Chang will make her debut with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra—under the baton of Marin Alsop—in the role of St. Marguerite in Honegger’s oratorio Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher, which will also mark her debut at Carnegie Hall. Chang will again sing Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with Saint Louis Symphony—under the baton of Ward Stare.
And for Bostonians who were cheated out of hearing Chang as Giulietta in Bellini’s I Capuletti e i Montecchi, due to the shutdown of Opera Boston, today's concert is an opportunity catch this enchanting singer while she is still based here. Accompanist JinUk Kim will also perform Liszt's solo piano work La campanella from Grandes études de Paganini, S.141.

Old South Meeting House was built in 1729 as a Puritan meeting house. In the years leading up to the American Revolution, colonists gathered there to challenge British rule. Since 2001, New England Conservatory has been presenting lunchtime recitals in this beautiful historic landmark.
