Offered through NEC's School of Continuing Education's new Contemporary Improvisation department, the Medieval Folk Roots Ensemble led by Cristi Catt, brings singers and instrumentalists together to explore a body of songs that have slipped in and out of oral and written traditions over the centuries; from Medieval cantigas, Gregorian chant, trouvere songs and villancicos to folk songs to works of Machado, Villalobos, Dvorak, Canteloube, and recent composers. Tonight's recital represents the culmination of the fall semester's work.
