Jacques Offenbach's La Périchole concerns two impoverished Peruvian street-singers, too poor to afford a marriage license, and a lecherous viceroy, who wishes to make the street singer, La Périchole his mistress. Set in hot, hot 1950‘s Lima, with music that’s diverse and delightful, Offenbach's opera bouffe is the opera equivalent of musical comedy.

The fully staged opera, performed in French with spoken text in English is conducted by Joel Revzen and directed by Joshua Major. The cast and orchestra are composed of NEC students.

Additional performances on Saturday February 11, Sunday February 12, and Monday February 13.
