About Our Secondary Halls

NEC’s smaller halls (Brown, Williams, Keller, and Pierce) are available for rental events on a limited basis when school is not is session. For details, please contact Melissa Schoenack, Scheduling Manager, by e-mail or by phone at 617-585-1268.

Brown Hall

NEC's second-largest recital hall, Brown has a maximum audience of 200 chairs available on the floor and an additional 60 in the balcony. Because of the versatility of the space, Brown is the location for larger receptions, performances, masterclasses and rehearsals.

Keller Room

An intimate recital room, Keller is the perfect location for smaller chamber or solo recitals with a maximum audience of 71. Because of its close proximity to Jordan, Keller is an ideal location for lectures or receptions associated with Jordan Hall events.

Pierce Hall

NEC's newer constructed, multi-purpose hall has two built-in projection screens and a lectern that make this space perfect for meetings, lectures and presentations, as well as performances. Located in the 241 St. Botolph building, Pierce is capable of seating a maximum audience of 105.

Williams Hall

The third largest hall in terms of audience capacity, Williams can seat a maximum audience of 190 with 112 seats on the floor and an additional 78 in the balcony. Located right next to Jordan Hall, Williams is regularly used for lectures and receptions associated with Jordan Hall events, as well as performances.

Rental dates in Jordan Hall are currently scheduled 19 months in advance. In other words, date requests for the 2015–2016 season will be accepted starting March 3, 2014 and contracts send out no later than July 4, 2014.

Please note that even though the bulk of our rental booking for 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 has already been done, we will continue accepting rental date requests throughout the year.

All rental date requests should be submitted via e-mail to Melissa Schoenack, Scheduling Manager.

Requests should include the following:

  • Name of Group
  • Booking Contact Name, mailing address, e-mail, phone and fax numbers
  • Preferred date(s) and alternates, as well as desired rehearsal time(s)
  • Event Start and End time
  • Information about the nature of the event
    (approximate number of performers is helpful, as well as a general idea of anticipated equipment needs such as stage extension and/or risers, if known)
  • Special Notes
  • Support Spaces needed (i.e. dressing rooms)

Please note that all rental events must be music-related. We do not accept rental requests for general meetings, conferences, private parties, weddings or any other event that is not primarily focused around a musical performance.
