American pianist Jonathan Biss is widely regarded for his artistry, musical intelligence and deeply felt interpretations, winning international recognition for his orchestral, recital, and chamber music performances and for his award-winning recordings. He performs a diverse repertoire ranging from Mozart and Beethoven, through the Romantics to Janácek and Schoenberg.

Biss made his Carnegie Hall debut earlier this year in a performance that the New York Times called "poetic and surging." As evidenced by his writings, and interviews, Biss has a great wit and an expansive sense of humor but it is this quote at the end of his unofficial bio that seems to capture the essence of his world view: "playing music remains ever a struggle. [He] regards it as a pleasure and privilege to live this struggle, and to share its results with other people."
