Great artists give free concerts at New England Conservatory—simply because they teach here.

Quintessential solo artist James Buswell of the violin faculty shows a different side as he brings together members of his NEC extended family for an evening of chamber music.

Beyond Buswell’s distinguished violin playing and penchant for adventuresome recital repertoire, this performance will also exhibit some of his work on the viola alongside pianist Meng-Chieh Liu and the Carpe Diem Quartet in a collaborative presentation of four 19th Century compositions.

The Carpe Diem Quartet features:

Charles Wetherbee, Amy Galluzzo, violin
Korine Fujiwara, viola
Carol Ou, cello

The Program:

Mozart: String Quintet in D Major (featuring Buswell on 2nd Viola)
Schubert: Fantasy in C major for violin and piano
Schubert: Rondo in A major for violin and string quartet
Chausson: Concerto for violin, piano, and string quartet
