Congratulations once again to NEC violinist InMo Yang ‘17, a student of Miriam Fried. Founded in 1954 and named after the great Italian virtuoso, Niccolò Paganini, the International Violin Competition "Premio Paganini" officially began with a threefold purpose: to nurture gifted young violinists, usher them into the international spotlight, and establish the city of Genoa, Italy as a prominent cultural center. Among its illustrious winners have been Salvatore Accardo, Gidon Kremer and Leonidas Kavakos. This year the competition is under the artistic direction of Maestro  Fabio Luisi.

InMo is pursuing a Bachelor of Music at NEC where he is the recipient of the Laurence Lesser Presidential Scholarship. He has previously won second prize in the senior division of the 2014 Yehudi Menuhin International Competition for Young Violinists and fourth prize at the 2012 Joachim International Violin Competition Hannover in Germany. Last October he was named first prize winner in the 2014 Concert Artists Guild Victor Elmaleh Competition held in New York City. That prize carried with it a $5,000 award as well as two years of concert management and a New York recital.
