NEC's Artist Diploma is the highest-level performance program at NEC, and focuses on developing both the artistry and professionalism of gifted young musicians. During their time at NEC, Boston audiences have the opportunity to hear these young artists on the verge of being claimed by the world's stages.

Audiences will remember Hae Ji Chang, Artist Diploma candidate studying with Lorraine Nubar, from her performances in the role of Pamina in NEC's production of The Magic Flute in 2010 (in photo).

In the upcoming 2011-2012 season, Chang will make important role and company debuts, including Giulietta in Bellini’s I Capuletti e i Montecchi with Opera Boston. And, in concert, Chang will make her debut with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra—under the baton of Marin Alsop—in the role of St. Marguerite in Honegger’s oratorio Jeanne d’Arc au bûcher, which will also mark her debut at Carnegie Hall. Chang will again sing Pamina in Mozart’s The Magic Flute with Saint Louis Symphony—under the baton of Ward Stare.

Her pianist for tonight's recital is Damien Francoeur-Krzyzek.
