Margo McGowan is principal clarinet with the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra and second clarinet with the Boston Landmarks Orchestra. She performs frequently with Boston Ballet, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Symphony New Hampshire, and the Lexington Symphony. Other freelance activities include substituting for Boston Classical Orchestra, Rhode Island Philharmonic, Indian Hill Symphony and Boston Lyric Opera. Past positions include principal clarinet with the Boston Academy of Music Orchestra and National Lyric Opera. Ms. McGowan is a member of the Northeast Quintet based in Rhode Island and a former member of the Young Audiences of Massachusetts woodwind quintet North Winds. Ms. McGowan has also been a guest artist for the Newport Music Festival . She has performed and recorded with the Kalman Opperman Clarinet Choir for the Sony/BMG label, as well as for Boston Landmarks recordings, and Navona Records. Ms. McGowan is an adjunct faculty member at Brandeis University and Phillips Academy in Andover and teaches in the Prep School at New England Conservatory.
