Music and dance scholar Julia Sutton (1928–2012) was editor and translator of Fabritio Caroso's Nobiltà di Dame (Oxford) and Thoinot Arbeau's Orchesography (Dover).

Sutton was dance director of New York Pro Musica's "An Entertainment for Elizabeth," the Pennsylvania Orchestra Association's "Renaissance Revisited," and Colorado College's "The Descent of Rhythm and Harmony" (Florentine Intermedio, 1589).

In addition to her numerous articles in scholarly publications on musicology and dance history, Sutton presented lectures and workshops in the U.S. and Europe.
