Jonathan Richter is an active conductor, vocalist, and music educator based in the Boston area. Mr. Richter has served as the Director of Youth Choruses at the New England Conservatory Preparatory School since 2011 and has since joined the college faculty to conduct the Concert Choir. Additionally, Mr. Richter is an adjunct professor at Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI where he runs the choral program and teaches undergraduate arts classes. Jonathan has served as the guest conductor of honor choruses throughout the northeast and is frequently engaged as a clinician and adjudicator at regional choral festivals. 


Mr. Richter has previously held teaching positions as the choral director at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick, MA and at Plymouth North and South High Schools in Plymouth, MA. Jonathan holds degrees from Yale University (M.M. in choral conducting) and the University of Connecticut (B.A. in music, B.S. in education), and is currently pursing the Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting at Boston University. He has studied conducting with Anne Howard Jones, Scott Allen Jarrett, David Hoose, Marguerite L. Brooks, Simon Carrington and Peter Bagley. Additionally, Richter has participated in masterclasses and private conducting lessons with Helmuth Rilling, Stephen Layton, Nicholas McGegan and Paul Hillier. Jonathan and his wife Arielle have one son, Benjamin, and they live in Braintree, Massachusetts.
