Voice

Tenor Jameson James combines over 25 years of singing experience, more than 12 years of studio teaching experience, and the refined skills of a certified Alexander Technique instructor.

Using his training and intuition, James creates powerful, nuanced singing characters on stage. He has performed with Boston Lyric Opera, Aspen Opera Theater, Bronx Opera, and New York Lyric Opera.  In 2007, James was a regional finalist in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions. A versatile performer, James is adept in opera, oratorio, musical theater and new works. He most recently sang Ferrando in Cosi fan tutte.

As a voice teacher, James uses the Alexander Technique to integrate the physical and intellectual elements of sound production. He guides students to new expressiveness and effortlessness in their singing. For classically trained singers, James is particularly skilled at changes in fach, after his own transition from baritone to tenor.

James maintains his own private studio in Cambridge, MA and New York City. In addition, he is Senior Faculty on the Alexander Technique New York City teacher training course. He also teaches at the Walnut Hill School for the Arts in Natick and Om Namo Yoga Studio in Belmont.

James is a graduate of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, the New England Conservatory, and Alexander Technique New York City.
