Born in the former USSR, Eugene Kaminsky received his Bachelor Degree at Rubin Academy of Music in Tel-Aviv (Israel), and his Master of Music and Doctor of Musical Arts degrees at the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati, where he was a student and later the assistant of Professor James Tocco.
An active performer, Eugene is a prizewinner of several international piano competitions such as "Josef Hofmann" International Piano Competition (USA) and "Carlo Soliva" International Piano Duo Competition (Italy), in ensemble with his wife Eva. He is an active solo and chamber music performer, frequently sharing the stage with instrumentalists and singers.
Performances include appearances on the Music of the Year Festival and Grandin Festival, as well as guest performances on Schleswig-Holstein and "Russische Schule" festivals in Germany, and "Villa Medici" in Italy.
As a piano duo, Eugene gave several "pioneer" 20-century music performances such as the USA premiere of Erwin Schulhoff’s Ironien in 1999 and the world premiere of Menachem Zur’s Isaiah’s Visions for piano four-hands and chamber orchestra in 2001.
While he was on the piano faculty of the Preparatory Department of CCM UC, his students won several merit awards and prizes in concerto and solo competitions. Eugene’s scholarly research projects included a lecture-recital Beethoven in 1800: Crisis of Style and Order of Disorder on the Concerto for Two Solo Pianos by Igor Stravinsky.
His doctoral thesis is dedicated to research on Schumann’s editions and manuscripts.
