The music of Elena Roussanova Lucas has been performed and heard around the world. Her prolific writing encompasses many diverse styles including music for orchestras, wind ensembles, chamber ensembles, solo pieces as well as Broadway and popular style songs.
A partial list of organizations and artists that have performed Elena’s works include: the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Tchaikovsky State Orchestra of Moscow, Vladimir Fedoseyev, Music Director, The Russian National Orchestra Brass Quintet, Moscow Radio Symphony Orchestra, members of the Bolshoi Ballet, the Dallas Brass, "Las Vegas Music Festival" NV, Festival of International Contemporary Music "Moscow Autumn", "Kremlin Festival" (Moscow), Mid-West International Band and Orchestra Clinic, (Chicago, Il ), Charles Castleman, violinist, Terry Everson, trumpeter, Ballet Lubbock, and others.
Lucas began studying music at the early age of three, when her family noticed her extreme talent and interest in music. Recognized as a child prodigy by Anna Artobolevskaya at the age of five, she was accepted to a special "Wunderkind" program at the Central Music School of the U.S.S.R.
As a pianist, Elena Lucas has performed extensively in Moscow, the United Kingdom, the Netherlands and the United States. She is the recipient of the First Prize in a Russia-wide piano competition sponsored by the Russian Ministry of Culture, and the "Achievement Award" from the Moscow Chief Administrator of Cultural Affairs for piano music written in remembrance of the 50th Anniversary of the end of World War ll. Her piano students have won competitions as well as acceptance into the Moscow Conservatory, Longy School of Music, and Salonica Conservatory, among others.
As a composer for Warner Bros/Alfred Music Publishers since 2001, Elena’s compositions have been regularly chosen for Editor’s Choice distinction by the J.W. Pepper Co. Many of her pieces for orchestra, string orchestra and wind ensemble are included on U.S.A. state music lists including Virginia, Texas, Florida and others.
Elena is an Assistant Professor in the Composition Department at Berklee College of Music. Previous work experience includes Boston University, Texas Tech University, Boston Ballet School and Ballet Lubbock. She is an elected member of the prestigious United Russian Composers Union and member of ASCAP.
