Extended Flute Technique

Flutist Orlando Cela '01 M.M. gives a lecture/performance on extended flute techniques. Efstratios Minakakis of the New England Conservatory faculty will give opening remarks.

Cela's successful 2011 Kickstarter project, "Project Extended," which he explains in the video on this page, resulted in the creation of innovative works by composers worldwide, and Cela's recording of these works.

This presentation comes at the end of a series of performances in San Francisco, Beijing, and Ningbo, together with lectures at UC Davis and UC Berkeley, including one on the role of extended techniques in Asian compositions as presented at the Seventh International Asian Music Conference at Ningbo University and at China Central Conservatory in Beijing.
