Today's masterclass is the first of two public masterclasses with renowned Canadian tenor, Ben Heppner. The second class will take place on March 1, 7:30pm in Jordan Hall.

Ben Heppner is renowned worldwide for his portrayals in the dramatic tenor repertoire. His illustrious career has taken him to opera stages and concert halls around the world. He is acclaimed for the beauty of his voice, incisive musicianship, and his generosity with audiences. His performances on the opera stage, in concert with the world’s leading orchestras, in the most prestigious recital venues, and in recordings have set new standards in his demanding repertoire.

Each year, NEC hosts NEC Opera Department Artists-in-Residence. Renowned guest artists from the opera field spend several days at NEC working closely with NEC students in lessons and public masterclasses. In the recent past, guest artists have included Marilyn Horne, Craig Rutenberg, José van Dam, Barbara Bonney, Bill Burden, Greer Grimsley and Jane Eaglen (current NEC voice faculty).

Ben Heppner's residency is made possible by a generous gift from NEC Trustee Muffy Glauber and her husband, Robert.
