Pianist/composer/improviser Ran Blake and trombonist Aaron Hartley celebrate their 12th year in co-production of New England Conservatory’s famed Film Noir series with Alfred Hitchcock's Vertigo (1958). Retired San Francisco police detective John "Scottie" Ferguson struggles to separate illusion from reality as members of Aaron Hartley’s Storyboard Noir Ensemble create an original score, responding to the drama through improvisations, recompositions, and reinterpretations of Bernard Harmann's orchestrations along with other works. Special guests include Eden MacAdam-Somer with the CI Chamber Music Ensemble, Ken Schaphorst with NEC's Jazz Orchestra, CI Department Co-Chair Hankus Netsky, and vocalist Sara Serpa.
