Artist: Stephen Drury (Piano)
Great artists give free concerts at New England Conservatory—simply because they teach here.
Pianist Stephen Drury of the NEC faculty leads [nec]shivaree, NEC's student avant-garde ensemble, as well as Callithumpian Consort, which was also formed at NEC and specializes in challenging contemporary music.
In tonight's solo recital, Drury performs works by two exemplars of high modernism: Morton Feldman and Christian Wolff.
This intermissionless program will last approximately 90 minutes, with most of this time required for Feldman's piece dedicated to Bunita Marcus—a student of Feldman's at SUNY/Buffalo who became a lifelong friend.
Date: January 20, 2016 - 7:30PM
Location: NEC's Jordan Hall
