In its sixth year of partnering with Commonwealth Shakespeare Company, New England Conservatory provides free concerts by our jazz musicians to precede CSC's popular, free outdoor productions on the Boston Common.
This year's production, Twelfth Night, follows the journey of Viola and Sebastian, twins separated by a shipwreck, as they encounter loss and love in their new homeland—the mythical and magical land of Illyria.
CSC Founding Artistic Director Steven Maler says, "we wanted to bring back an audience favorite—and one of my favorite comedies. We are eager to revisit Illyria and some of Shakespeare's most colorful characters—Sir Toby Belch, Malvolio, Sir Andrew Aguecheek, and Feste."
Tonight's pre-show jazz performance is by the Caio Afiune Quartet.
Caio Afiune, guitar
Hery Paz, tenor saxophone
Simon Willson, acoustic bass
Dor Herskovits, drums
