Composer Donald Crockett works with New England Conservatory composition students and offers two public events (of which this is the first) while in town for rehearsals and a performance of his work Blue Earth with Boston Modern Orchestra Project, as well as recording sessions with BMOP.
The recipient of a 2013 Arts and Letters Award in Music from the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Crockett has been commissioned in his native California by groups ranging from the Los Angeles Philharmonic to California EAR Unit, and was composer-in-residence at Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra from 1991 to 1997. The video on this page is a teaser for his chamber opera The Face, which had its first performances in 2012 in Los Angeles and at the Boston Conservatory.
In addition to his work with BMOP, his Boston-area presence also includes work for Firebird Ensemble, founded by violist Kate Vincent '99 M.M., '01 M.M.
