The New England Conservatory Community Performances and Partnerships Program is proud to share a longstanding collaboration with the Boston Public Library, the world’s first publicly supported free municipal library system. This partnership has grown so that NEC students perform not only in the nearby Copley Square Central Library location, but also at BPL neighborhood branches in Brighton, Dorchester at Adams Street and Grove Hall, and West Roxbury.
The BPL’s Central Library is located in the heart of Boston’s Back Bay neighborhood. Its magnificent McKim building was designated a National Historic Landmark by the National Park Service in 1986. NEC students regularly participate in the Never Too Late Group, an entertaining lecture series for seniors held at the BPL’s Rabb Lecture Hall. Summertime performances often take place in the McKim building’s interior Courtyard, with its backdrop of intricate masonry, a fountain, and beautiful gardens.
