"The greatest virtuoso of the Sarod...the best of his generation..."
—Jazzwise Magazine, 2005

Amjad Ali Khan is known throughout the world for his innovation and mastery on the sarod. Credited with having created new Ragas himself, Khan integrates his knowledge of Indian classical music with his own personal interpretations of traditional styles to produce original works and renditions of timeless value.

Khan's compositions and collaborative efforts have earned him many awards and honors, including a Grammy nomination and the Padma Vibhushan (the highest Indian civilian award).

This performance will also feature Vineet Vyas on tabla and Khan's two sons, Amaan Ali Khan and Ayaan Ali Khan, who have earned considerable recognition on the sarod, extending the legacy and acclaim of the family into its seventh generation of musicians rooted in the Senia Bangash School. One of the most notable ancestors of this linneage is Hafiz Ali Khan, Amjad's father and son of Sarod virtuoso Nanneh Khan, a court musician for the royal family of Gwalior, India.
