Kazuha Nakahara '98, '00 MM, Piano PerformanceKazuha Nakahara ’98, ’00 M.M. was named piano faculty member at Universitas Pelita Harapan, located in Karawaci-Lippo Village, Indonesia, near Jakarta.  Kazuha has the biggest studio at the University, teaching 19 Major students and two technique and performance classes.  Kazuka is performing actively and will be giving recitals in Jakarta and throughout Asia.  She also has a US tour featuring works of Chopin and Schumann that will take place in February 2011. 2011-01-06


Grazyna Bacewicz: Violin Concertos, Joanna Kurkowicz '98 A.D., Violin PerformancePolish violinist Joanna Kurkowicz ’98 A.D. has a recent recording on Chandos Records of Grażyna Bacewicz’s music for violin and orchestra.  The record has won numerous prizes including the "Diapason d'Or" for March 2010 from the French music journal Diapason, was nominated for the 2010 "Fryderyk Award," and placed #6 on Amazon.com’s list of top 25 "Best Classical Albums of 2009." The same recording was also nominated for the 2009 Preis der Deutchen Schallplaten Kritik (German Record Critics' Award). 2010-08-20


Lior Navok '98 MM, '01 DMA CompositionComposer Lior Navok '98 M.M., ’01 D.M.A. has recently won the Israeli "Prime Minister Award" for the second time. He and guitarist Luiz Mantovani '00 M.M., '02 A.D. joined forces in a recent collaboration; a commission from the Israel Sinfonietta for a new guitar concerto.  Luiz Mantovani was the soloist in the Fall 2010 premier of Lior Navok’s new concerto in Beer Sheva, Israel.  The commission was made possible with support from the Israel Ministry of Science, Culture, and Sport and the Adele and John Gray Endowment Fund.  Lior says, "As students at NEC, we weaved dreams about a new guitar concerto composed especially for Luiz." Luiz was thrilled by the opportunity: "It was definitely one of the most meaningful moments of my career, not only because of the musical challenge but also because it is something very special to work together in a new large-scale work, by a composer who is a close friend of mine".  The concerto is in four movements, connected to each other. With few repeating motives throughout, each movement projects a different emotional aspect, colored differently in the following. 2010-12-20


Seth Cluett '98, CompositionComposer and artist Seth Cluett ’98 is involved in a number of multidisciplinary projects that include installations of art and sound.  Most recently he had a solo installation, ArchitecTones, in Arc-et-Senans, France in 2009 and exhibited ...menu for murmur at the Chapman Gallery, University of Salford, Manchester, UK in 2010. 2010-08-02




Yitzhak Yedid '98 M.M., Contemporary Improvisation Pianist and Composer Yitzhak Yedid ‘98 M.M. announced the release of his music for Harp, Out to Infinity, by harpist Emilie Jaulmes from the Stuttgart Philharmonic.  Out to Infinitiy is included on the CD Moments de Harp on German record Label KALEIDOS. Yitzak studied with Ran Blake and Paul Bley in the Contemporary Improvisation program.  He currently resides in Brisbane, Australia. 2010-08-02
