SUMMARY:

 

 

The Associate Director of Leadership Gifts has primary responsibility for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of current and potential donors with the capacity to make gifts of $100,000 or more in support of the Leadership Giving Initiative and the Annual Fund. 

  • Develop and advance a prospect portfolio of  150-200 major gifts prospects, as assigned by the Executive Director of Development, including cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of donors.
  • Travel regionally and throughout the country to identify, cultivate and solicit prospects (50-75% of total work week ideally will be spent engaging with prospects).
  • Develop appropriate solicitation strategies in support of the Leadership Giving Initiative, to continue building annual support, and to develop a robust pipeline for future campaigns.
  • Meet monthly goals for prospect interactions and annual targeted fundraising results (team and individual goals will be established as appropriate annually by the Executive Director of Development)
  • Follow up on all donor or prospective contacts with appropriate correspondence and maintain internal record-keeping as defined by office policies.
  • Participate in and support NEC-wide events such as Feast of Music, the annual fundraising gala; attend and support alumni and donor relations activities related to assigned activities. 
  • Participate in monthly strategy sessions and staff meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

 

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access) required.
  • Familiarity with Raisers Edge or similar fundraising database preferred; knowledge of PGCalc preferred.
  • Bachelor degree and a minimum of five-seven years experience in the development field.
  • Proven record of success in soliciting major and planned gifts.
  • Prior experience working with capital campaigns.
  • Knowledge of  planned giving options.
  • Demonstrated success in building new donor constituencies.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and flexibility that allow for effective team building and  the ability to relate comfortably  with a variety of constituencies, including board members, donors, faculty, alumni and staff.
  • Ability to listen carefully and persuasive communication and presentation skills.
  • Collaborative attitude in support of overall Advancement and institutional communications goals.
  • Tact, discretion, and a creative approach to problem solving.
  • Experience in higher education and /or cultural organizations preferred.
  • Ability and willingness to travel essential
  • Ability and willingness to work nights and weekends essential.
  • Employee must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: works well with co-workers or peers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; perform work activities requiring negotiating, instructing, supervising, persuading or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to constructive feedback from a supervisor.
