At New England Conservatory, the Academic and International Student Advisors provide academic and immigration counseling for students enrolled in the Undergraduate Diploma, Bachelor of Music, Master of Music, and Graduate Diploma programs. They help students select courses, meet educational and career goals, remedy academic difficulties, and better understand NEC's purposes and policies.  In addition they assist students with I-20s, student visas, curricular practical training and optional practical training.

Rebecca advises students (except Gradaute Diploma and D.M.A.) in the following majors: collaborative piano, composition, conducting, historical performance, musicology, music theory, piano, and vocal performance/pedagogy.


Stephanie Barnes
Academic and International Student Advisor

This position advises students (except Graduate Diploma and D.M.A) in the following majors: brass, chamber music, contemporary improvisation, guitar, jazz studies, percussion, strings, and woodwind.

Tom Handel
Academic Chair of DMA Program and Academic Advisor

Tom provides academic advising for all students in the Graduate Diploma and the Doctor of Musical Arts degrees. International advising for these students will be with the above two advisors by listed departments.
