Meet the 2013–2014 Residence Life Staff

The Residence Hall is staffed by nine full-time student and paraprofessional staff members, Resident Assistants (RAs) and Graduate Assistants (GAs), along with one full-time professional staff member, the Director of Residential Life. Our student staff members work to create a communal environment within the Residence Hall through personal interaction with their peers and by sponsoring creative programs to support the philosophy and objectives of Residence Life at New England Conservatory.

Sonny LalchandiSonny Lalchandani
2nd Floor RA

Sonny Lalchandani is a junior studying sitar in the Contemporary Improvisation department. In his free time he loves reading, checking out new music, cooking and traveling. The height of his music experiences have been going to India to study and teaching student about Indian music in the US.

 

 

 

Nicholas MyersNicholas Myers
3rd Floor RA

Nick Myers is originally from Cadillac, Michigan, and graduated from Interlochen Arts Academy in 2012. He studies double bass with the Boston Symphony's Larry Wolfe. When not practicing, Nick enjoys working at the Preparatory School and Institutional Advancement as a way to gain experience in a non-musical setting. His other interests include baseball, traveling, reading, and socializing. Nick looks forward to getting to know the residents of the third floor and reinforcing the majestic tradition of the TFBs!

Michael MayoMichael Mayo
4th Floor RA

Michael Mayo is a senior at NEC majoring in Jazz Voice Performance. He studies with Dominique Eade, Jerry Bergonzi, Ken Shaphorst, and Donny McCaslin. Besides singing, Michael enjoys learning foreign languages, composing, playing video games, and is always willing to go on adventures. This is his third year on the ResLife staff and he can't wait to get to know his residents and have an awesome year with together.

 

Jacob MeansJacob Means
5th Floor RA

Jacob is in the second year of his Master’s Degree Program in the Contemporary Improvisation department. He studies Mandolin with Hankus Netsky and voice with Dominique Eade. Jacob began playing the Mandolin when he was 8 and started singing shortly after. He studied voice at the University of Wyoming during his Bachelor’s Degree and loves to travel the world to play and sing. His other interests include spending time in nature, biking, and spending time with friends and family. Jacob is from Wyoming where he enjoys his three cats, two dogs, and horse.

Marie van der SlootMaria van der Sloot
6th Floor RA

Maria van der Sloot is entering her fourth year at NEC, studying violin with Donald Weilerstein. Far from her igloo in the Canadian Rockies, she has grown to love Boston for its history, culture, and explorability and is excited to share it with her residents. Maria also enjoys reading, quartet rehearsals, brain games, the outdoors, and gluten-free food, especially hot chocolate.

 

 

 

Sonnet SwireSonnet Swire
7th Floor RA

Sonnet Swire is a sophomore studying composition with a concentration in music education. When she's not hunched over in a dark practice room playing piano for hours until something sticks, she likes to immerse herself even more into music by practicing theory or reading about a composer. But when she takes a break from being a complete music geek, she enjoys dining out with friends, laughing, and snuggling with animals. She aspires to ensure that all her seventh floor ladies fall in love with NEC just as she has.

Nataly WickhamNataly Wickham
GA for Student Activities

Nataly Wickham is a first year Opera Graduate Diploma student studying with Jane Eaglen. A native of Seattle Washington, she recently completed her master's degree from the University of Texas in Austin. She received her bachelor's degree from the University of Washington in Seattle and was an RA for two years, one of which being the RA for the Arts Community. Most recently. Nataly portrayed Donna Anna in UT's production of Don Giovanni. She spent the summer of 2013 as an Apprentice Artist with Des Moines Metro Opera in Indianola Iowa. In her spare time, Nataly enjoys cooking, exploring Boston, good Mexican food, and Face Timing with her two cats, Calaf and Tesla.

Elizabeth O'NeilElizabeth O’Neil
GA for Wellness

Elizabeth O’Neil will begin her fourth year of her oboe performance Bachelor Degree at the New England Conservatory, studying with John Ferrillo. Originally from Arlington, VA, Elizabeth is an advocate of the arts and community service. She is a recent graduate of From the Top's Center for the Development of Arts Leaders, where she was part of an effort to jump start an El Sistema music program in Somerville, MA. This is Elizabeth’s 3rd year on NEC’s Residence Life Staff and is bilingual in English and Spanish. In her spare time, she loves to eat, laugh, and walk around Boston, petting any dogs that come her way.

Paul LuedersPaul Lueders
GA for Residence Life

Paul Lueders, from Needham, Masachusetts, will begin the 2nd year of his Master's Degree program studying oboe performance with John Ferrillo. This will be Paul's eleventh year at NEC, including five years at the Conservatory's Preparatory School program. Paul loves the close-knit community of the NEC Residence Hall and he is excited to be returning for a fifth year on the Residence Life Staff.

 

 

Allesandra CioncoAllesandra Cionco
Director of Residential Life

Allesandra Cionco, originally from California, graduated from NEC with her Master of Music in Vocal Performance in 2010. During her time as a student at NEC she worked as a student assistant in both Admissions and Student Activities. As an undergraduate student at San José State University, Allesandra worked throughout her undergrad as an RA, an Office Manager for Hoover Hall, and as the assistant to the SJSU Housing Community Relations Coordinator, Kevina Brown. This will be Allesandra’s fourth year as the Director of NEC's program. Allesandra continues to sing with local company, Boston Opera Collaborative, and as the soprano cantor at Back Bay's St. Cecilia Parish. In her spare time, Allesandra enjoys adventuring in the Boston area with friends and cooking.
