Health and Counseling Services will close on Monday, May 18 for the summer break. Please see below for instruction for care during the break.

Access to Health Care Services When Closed

Off–campus health care services are available to you when we are closed.

As always, if you experience a medical emergency dial 911, or go to the nearest emergency department.

For an urgent problem after hours (weekends, holidays) call 617-754-9600, Healthcare Associates (HCA) at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC). Follow the prompts for paging the doctor on call. Tell the doctor you are a student at NEC and that Leah McKinnon-Howe is the Health Services nurse practitioner and HCA contact. If you do not receive a return call within 30 minutes, please call again.

For students with Gallagher Student Health Insurance: when the health center is closed you may seek medical services anywhere without a referral. Services (minus the visit co-pay) are generally covered at 90% for all network providers and at 70% for all non-network providers. Please check with Gallagher at 1-800-404-9036 before your appointment if you have any questions regarding your insurance coverage.
