Teaching and Learning Specialist, OrchKids

Possessing a diversity of experience as a performer, educator, and administrator, violist Hana Morford returned to her native city of Baltimore in the fall of 2014. There she is taking on a new role as Teaching and Learning Specialist for the El Sistema-inspired program, OrchKids. Prior to the fellowship, Hana served as Education Associate for the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, managing the Academy programs for adult musicians. Hana formerly served as Education Director of the Greater Baltimore Youth Orchestras’ Bridges program, leading a large after-school and weekend program for underserved students in seven Baltimore City Public Schools.

Her past experiences as a teaching artist include positions at the OrchKids program, the Baltimore School for the Arts’ TWIGS program, and GBYO’s Bridges program. Hana has also served on the faculty of the Peabody Conservatory’s Preparatory, leading group classes and maintaining a large private studio.

Hana’s performance experiences have included fellowships at the Spoleto, Kneisel Hall, National Repertory Orchestra, and Aspen Music Festivals. A former member of Symphony in C, she has also performed regularly with the New World Symphony Orchestra and the Baltimore Chamber Orchestra.  Hana holds a Bachelor’s degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, a Master’s degree from Rice University, and a Graduate Performance Diploma from the Peabody Conservatory.
