Janice Giampa has been an active singer and teacher in the Boston area for over twenty-five years. She has sung regularly with the Handel and Haydn Society where she performed and recorded as a soloist under the direction of Grant Llewellyn, Christopher Hogwood, Sir Roger Norrington, Robert Spano, Harry Bicket, and John Finney. As a member of Boston Baroque she recorded numerous works including Messiah, Monteverdi Vespers, and Bach B Minor Mass, all of which were nominated for Grammy awards. She has toured with the Mark Morris Dance Company in productions of Dido and Aeneas and Gluck’s Orfeo which was presented at the Edinburgh Festival. She has performed with the Aston Magna Festival of Early Music and with the Hartford Symphony. Ms. Giampa presently serves as the Opera Workshop director and on the voice faculty at the University of Massachusetts at Lowell. She is the stage director of the New England Conservatory School of Continuing Education Opera Studio and Summer Opera Institute. She also teaches the Dramatic Coaching of Songs and Arias class in the Continuing Ed division. In addition, Ms. Giampa is an active member of the Boston Chapter of the National Association of Teachers of Singing, has served on the Board of Directors, and has frequently adjudicated the Boston Song Festival Competition. She is a member of The Voice Foundation, an international organization dedicated to ongoing voice research and a member of the National Opera Association.
Janice Giampa is a state licensed and ASHA certified speech language pathologist with a specialization in singing voice therapy.
