Bass trombonist Douglas Yeo taught at New England Conservatory for the entire duration of his employment with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, from 1985 through his retirement in 2012. Yeo joined the BSO after four years with the Baltimore Symphony, and has been a soloist with both those orchestras as well as the Boston Pops. At the BSO he occupied the John Moors Cabot chair.
Yeo has published extensively on trombone and brass playing, and has coauthored Mastering the Trombone with Edward Kleinhammer. Yeo’s many arrangements have been published by G. Schirmer, Southern, and International Music. He maintains an award-winning website, and is, as well, an accomplished serpentist.
In 1998, Yeo was appointed Music Director of the New England Brass Band, which released two recordings, Christmas Joy! and Honour and Glory, under his direction. His four solo recordings, Two of a Mind, Cornerstone, Proclamation, and Take 1 have received critical acclaim.
