Daniel Schmunk, Director of New England Conservatory’s School of Continuing Education, the adult extension school of the conservatory, is a life-long student of music and music education.
He has had the privilege of holding elementary and secondary teaching positions in New Hampshire, and in the North Shore and Metro-West areas of Boston. He has taught all aspects of music at all levels in both public and private institutions, with his most recent post as the Director of Choral Music at Lexington Christian Academy, a private college preparatory school in Lexington, Mass. While teaching at the middle and high school levels, he has also been very involved in the schools’ musical theater productions holding different posts as director, musical director, and conductor.
As a church musician, Dan Schmunk has held positions at Tremont Temple Baptist Church in Boston, the first integrated church in America, and at Boston’s historic Park Street Church where he currently serves as Director of Choral Music.
Dan is also the Assistant Conductor and Executive Director of Lyricora, a 25-voice choral ensemble he founded with his wife and friends in 2006. Lyricora performs throughout New England, is heavily involved in educational outreach, and has recorded for Parma Recordings which is exclusively distributed by Naxos.
He continues to teach privately on the North Shore of Boston, where he lives with his wife, a soprano, and three boys, all promising optional percussionists.
