Please note: NEC is not accepting undergraduate Historical Performance applications at this time.
A live audition at NEC is required of all Historical Performance applicants living within 500 miles of Boston, and of all DMA applicants regardless of their place of residence.
DMA applicants must upload a prescreening recording (audio-only) to our secure online portal by December 1 to be considered for a live audition. Master's Degree and Graduate Diploma applicants are not required to submit a prescreening. Prescreening recordings must contain all the required repertoire as outlined below. After review, qualified applicants will be invited for a live audition at NEC. After reviewing the recording guidelines on our general Audition Requirements page, please upload your prescreening recording files to the online application.
Historical Performance applicants who live more than 500 miles from Boston and are not applying for the DMA program may be considered for admission based on the submission of a final video audition recording uploaded through our online portal rather than a live audition. Video audition recordings should include all the audition repertoire below. Please note that a live audition is strongly encouraged. Visit the Audition Requirements page for more information. Final video auditions are due by February 1.
For DMA applicants, prescreening recording repertoire requirements are the same as the live audition requirements. MM and GD applicants are not required to submit a prescreening recording.
