News from your classmates

John K. Mackenzie ’52 studied theory and composition at NEC and enjoyed having his works performed by student ensembles at the conservatory.  After graduation John became an executive speech writer, finding quite a similarity between speech writing and music; theme, development, modulations, variations, recapitulations, etc.  During his time at NEC, he studied with Frances Judd Cooke. 2011-05-02

Elizabeth Gill White '52, '54 MMElizabeth Gill White ’52, ’54 M.M., Piano Performance, is a resident of Riderwood Village, a retirement community in Silver Spring, MD. In August, 2009 there was a wonderful meeting of NEC generations after she accompanied a program of voice, piano and violin by residents and others. Among the singers were four graduates of the Suitland High School Center of the Visual and Performing Arts near Washington DC. These talented and well-prepared performers presented their arias, art songs and spirituals to a large audience in the Chapel of RWV. Because of the quality of these young people’s presentations, and because two of them were headed for NEC, Elizabeth invited her colleague and NEC classmate, Dr. Raymond Jackson ’55, to attend the concert. Here is a picture of the two alumni with the two who are now freshmen at NEC - sopranos Erika Littlejohn (left) and Dimery Mowery. All who heard them predict outstanding careers following their training at New England Conservatory. 2010-12-16
