Transcripts
Enrolling students must submit a final official transcript documenting the degree or diploma earned and the date of graduation. You do not need to submit a new copy if we already have this final transcript on file. Transfer students must submit final transcripts that include grades for the last semester attended. Incoming homeschooled students must submit final records indicating that they completed high school equivalent studies in accordance with the homeschool laws of their state of residence. Students who have not submitted a final transcript will not be allowed to enroll and may place any awarded financial aid monies in jeopardy.
Transcripts should be submitted by July 1 and will be added to the Applicant Portal. Please note that emailed transcripts can only come directly from the institution or service, e.g., WES, ECE, or Parchment. Mailed transcripts must be sealed as official.

Orchestra
All incoming students playing orchestral instruments will need to audition for orchestra placement during orientation. More details will be sent to incoming students over the summer.
Studio Placements
Placements in faculty studios are determined in close consultation with department chairs and individual faculty members. Many factors are taken into consideration, including audition results, the number of openings in any given studio, teacher preferences, etc. Studio placements are included in many admissions decisions; if you did not receive a studio placement, your admissions counselor will be in touch in the coming weeks. If you have further questions, please contact your enrollment counselor.
Health and Wellness
NEC partners with Tufts Center for Collegiate Wellness and has an on-campus Counseling and Wellness Center. Learn more on our Health and Wellness page. All enrolling students must review, complete, and submit several health forms. Please stay tuned, as these forms will be uploaded soon.
- Graduating students returning for a new degree must contact Emily Waystack, the Coordinator of Health and Wellness, before the end of the spring semester. Please email Emily at emily.waystack@necmusic.edu to receive further information about re-entry and to avoid a late fee and/or registration hold.
- Dual Degree students should submit a copy of the immunization documents required by Harvard for their NEC record.
- All students are required to have health insurance that meets specific standards set by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
NEC offers a student insurance policy, and all students are automatically enrolled in the plan, in accordance with state law, but may waive participation if they can demonstrate that they have a U.S.-based insurance plan that meets the state requirements. Students will receive information about the school’s insurance plan when they receive their tuition bill.
Important Information for International Students
Any student who is not a citizen or Permanent Resident of the United States and who requires an F-1 student Visa must complete the Certification of Finances form and submit it with the appropriate documentation of funds no later than May 15. Learn more on our International Advising page.
Students will receive the Certification of Finances form only after submitting the Intent to Enroll form and tuition deposit. If you have submitted the Intent to Enroll form and tuition deposit and still need the Certification of Finances or have questions about the completion of the form, please contact the admissions office at admissions@necmusic.edu.
Transfer Students
Transcripts of all admitted transfer students are currently being reviewed by our colleagues in Academic Affairs. Your enrollment counselor will contact you by April 15 with further information on your preliminary transfer level. Studio levels as determined by your audition are considered alongside academic credits to make an initial determination of your transfer level. In the event of a discrepancy between your studio level and overall transferable credits, your transfer level will be the lower of the two. Final transfer level will be confirmed upon receipt of a final transcript (due July 1), showing successful completion of any courses still in progress at the time of the initial evaluation. Please direct questions about transfer levels to admissions@necmusic.edu.
